Great White Pelicans

Walvis Bay is an important breeding ground for Great white pelicans. Flocks of several thousand are common. These are large birds with wingspans of 7 to 10 feet and body weights of 20+ pounds. They appear awkward in landing and takeoff but are elegant once airborne.
