Greater Flamingos

Greater Flamingos

Greater Flamingos are pink and white. They feed with their head upside down and filter animal matter such as larvae and small mollusks from the bottom.

The Walvis Bay lagoon is a wetland of international importance. It is the foremost wetland on the coast of southern Africa. In winter, Walvis Bay supports 80-90% of all the flamingos in southern Africa. Flamingos are globally threatened.
